About Pleasanton

Ridge and quarry lake

Pleasanton, Alameda County

Pleasanton lies at the western end of the Livermore Valley, where vineyards have grown since the 1800s. Phoebe Apperson Hearst built her country estate in the hills above town in the 1890s. Today Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park covers much of that high ground, and Shadow Cliffs, a former gravel quarry on the valley floor, has been turned into a swimming and fishing lake.
